intensive level 3
4 week blocks
The intensive can be booked in 4 week blocks. To participate in the Intensive you need to have first completed the Beginners Levels 1 and Beginners Level 2 program, either at 8 Limbs or at another dedicated Ashtanga Yoga school. This is a silent class, however, if you can not yet remember the sequence you can ask the teacher or an assistant, use your sheet, or simply follow someone else. Most students are able to remember the sequence within a couple of weeks. Try it... you'll never look back!
early morning
Traditionally Ashtanga Yoga is practised to the rising sun. At sunrise and sunset 'prana' or life energy levels are at their peak. Practising at sunrise is particularly beneficial to balance the three 'doshas' (humors) of the body. As kapha (sluggishness) is dominant in the morning, the dynamic movement (vata) and heat (pitta) of the practice bring the body into a a state of balance at the start the day.
daily
A daily practice brings optimal benefits. The less frequently you practise the more likely you are to experience ups and downs. Practising regularly and more frequently allows you to get to know your body, to build a solid foundation of strength, to develop sustainable flexibility and thereby to create a safe plateau in your practice from where you can venture higher.
a silent class
Once you become independent of the talk-through of the teacher the Ashtanga practice truly unfolds. Practising to the rhythm of your own breath allows you to go deeper into your practice and helps the body to open. When you have learnt the sequence of postures the teacher is freed up to give students individual attention and assistance in the postures. Students practise and progress at their personalised pace in a silent, meditative class. We promise you'll love it!
