Are there still places available for this course?

There are places available for all the courses that are visible on the website. Courses that are booked out are no longer displayed.

Do I need to book and pay before the course starts?

To reserve a place you will need to book in and pay. We cannot promise you a place if you have not booked in.

What do I need to bring?

You do not need to bring anything with you. The studio is fully equipped and we have everything there that you will need. For hygiene reasons we encourage students to bring their own mat. We also have yoga mats for sale.

What are your payment options?

You can book any course online using debit or credit card via our secure gateway. Alternatively, you can mail a cheque or money order (made out to 8Limbs) to our PO Box 804, Innaloo City 6918.

Am I fit enough to do your courses?

Everybody under 60 years of age and of average health can do our courses.

What if I miss a class?

If you miss a class you can make it up in any other course of the same level as long as your initial course is still running. It is in your interest to do as many classes as possible in your original course so that the postures are presented in the right order. We recommend that you do not leave a break of longer than one week between classes otherwise there may be little improvement.

Where is your studio and where can I park?

Our studio is at 220 Carr Place (please don't mistake it with Carr Street), up the street from the Leederville Hotel . Street parking is available on Carr Place.

Please note that we no longer have a studio in Victoria Park or Fremantle.

Can I do a trial class?

You can do a trial class only on the 1st class of a Beginner's Course Level 1. You will be charged a casual class fee, which can be deducted from the total cost of the course if you decide to continue. You cannot continue on a casual basis.

What if the Level 1 is too easy for me?

If you find after the first three classes that your course is too easy, we are happy to upgrade you to the next level, i.e. Level 2.

Why do I have to sign up for a course? Can't I come casually?

Ashtanga Yoga is a set sequence of postures, which are progressive in nature. It is like learning a dance sequence where the lessons need to be presented in the right order. Additionally, the fundamentals are taught in great detail in the first classes. If beginners courses are open to casual drop-ins it is difficult to progress beyond the information of the first class, as the teacher always needs to cater for the most novice student. This would be unfair towards those students who have already attended several classes. We ask beginners to Ashtanga Yoga to follow our course program. This way everyone progresses much faster.

I have done yoga before. Do I have to do a beginners course?

Other styles of yoga will not fully prepare you for Ashtanga Yoga. If you have not learned Ujjayi breathing, Mula and Uddiyana Bandhas in connection with the traditional sequence of postures, you will need to start with a Beginners Level 1 course.

I have learnt Ashtanga Yoga somewhere else. Do I have to do a beginners course with you?

No. If you have studied with another dedicated Ashtanga Yoga school and are familiar with Ujjayi breathing, Mula and Uddiyana Bandhas in connection with the traditional sequence of postures, you can go straight into our Guided classes.

Do I qualify for a concession?

We offer concession prices for those who receive unemployment benefits, students and pensioners. If you have booked a concession please bring evidence to your first class.

Are classes still on on public holidays?

Yes, our classes are always on. For two weeks over the Christmas and New Year's holidays we run a reduced timetable.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are only given if your doctor advises us that you cannot complete your course for medical reasons.

Can I transfer to another course or can I get a credit for my course if I don't show up?

Yes, if you inform us 3 working days before commencement of the course. Particularly the Beginners Intensive Level 1 does usually get booked out and we have a waitlist for attendees. Only if you inform us before commencement of your inability to attend can we give your place to somebody else and hence give you a credit for your place or transfer you.

Are there any dangers to yoga?

As with any form of exercise you need to assess whether yoga is suitable for you or not. Our teachers cannot look inside your body and see what is happening. The only person that gets feedback from your body and knows your body intricately is you and if something feels wrong do not do it or change what you are doing. Whenever performing any sort of exercise it is important that you listen to and trust the feedback that your body is giving you. We will never force you to do any exercises or to do them in a particular way. 8 Limbs and its teachers are not responsible for any liability, injury or loss arising from the exercises and instruction given in class. If you are in doubt whether yoga is suitable for you check with a medical practitioner before commencement.
