the training
8 Limbs' Teacher Training comprises an estimated almost 750 hours presented over a three year period. This enables integration of the material as well as the firm establishment in a daily yoga practice. The training is taught within the setting of an established yoga school enabling trainees to practice their hands-on skills and adjusting techniques under the supervision of experienced teachers. Trainees are also given the opportunity to teach yoga to 'real' beginners. Theoretical and/or practical exams are held at the completion of each module, as well as assignments where applicable.
The trainers are Gregor Maehle (author of Ashtanga Yoga Practice and Philosophy and Ashtanga Yoga The Intermediate Series (forthcoming)) and Dr Monica Gauci (Chiropractor). Monica and Gregor are the co-founders and directors of 8 Limbs and are senior yoga teachers with the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia.
The three-year training is broken down into three one-year modules that can be individually undertaken. The next intake is on 1st September 2009.
